Matthias Rüfenacht, Comfone’s COO, graduated in Electrical Engineering and then carried out further postgraduate studies in Software Engineering.

He began his professional career at Ascom where he worked as a Development and Systems Engineer for automated test systems for telecommunication equipment and infrastructure.

He then joined the Swiss telecom incumbent Telecom PTT, where he broadened his experience of telecommunication systems in the field of research and development for computer aided testing. Mr Rüfenacht then stepped into the world of Mobile Communication as Head of Rating at Swisscom Mobile where he gained in-depth experience of all aspects of global roaming.

In 2002, he took on responsibility as Head of Operation and Customer Care and later on as Chief Operation Officer, for the innovative WeRoam service. In this role he was responsible for the development and operation of an international WLAN Roaming Service for mobile operators and service providers. Comfone's WeRoam© WLAN Roaming Service combines the well established roaming processes of the GSMA with the international available Internet connectivity over Wi-Fi networks as a WLAN roaming aggregator.

Since 2006, in his current role and as a member of Comfone’s Executive Board, Matthias is responsible for all service related aspects of Comfone, including implementation, operation and customer support.
