The story of the people behind Comfone goes back to the very beginning of mobile telephony, when Comfone’s CEO was involved in shaping the international GSM standard in the 80’s.

However, the history of Comfone can be traced back to1997 and three companies, Swiss Clearline, Swisscom and Vodafone AirTouch, the latter two having just launched a new joint venture company, Comfone.

In 1999 Swisscom became majority holder of Comfone having bought out Vodafone AirTouch. Soon after, in early 2000, a merger between Comfone and Swiss Clearline, also a company of Swisscom, took place.

The story unfolded further only a few months later when former top management of Swisscom Mobile arranged a 75% management buy-out of Comfone. The remaining 25% is still held by Swisscom.

Today, the international team of 70 employees at Comfone, representing experts in the fields of operations and financial and roaming management, act under the Presidency of Walter Heutschi and his partners, Géraldine Philippe, Tobias Waldner and Toni Stadelmann, the founders of Comfone.
