Informacion C.A of Venezuela is the latest mobile operator
to join the Comfone Key2roam® community. This marks the extension
of Key2roam®'s footprint into Latin America.
Infonet Venezuela was the pioneer of GSM in
Latin America and has had roaming in operation since 2001. Infonet's
network covers the western part of Venezuela, including the strategically
important oil producing regions of Maracaibo, the Gulf of Venezuela
and the lake of Maracaibo. As an existing customer of Comfone
since 2000, Infonet Venezuela already benefits from Comfone Signalling,
GCS, and Data and Financial Clearing.
Comfone's Key2roam® solution is an innovative broker
solution, where Key2roam® acts a centralised interface managing
all roaming relations between mobile operators that are members
of the Key2roam® community. With a single bilateral roaming agreement
and relation with Comfone, Key2roam® partners can access Comfone's
ever-growing number of GSM- networks connected to the Key2roam®
roaming platform. Only one initial set of IREG and TADIG tests
must be carried out with Comfone. No further tests are required
for setting up and maintaining Key2roam® destinations as additional
tests are automatically performed through Key2roam®'s test unit.
All information exchange, including financial clearing, is centralised
by Comfone.

community members enjoy numerous benefits:
- Operators can increase their roaming coverage while cutting
operational costs
- Only one single roaming agreement with Comfone Key2roam® is required
to access all roaming partners who are part of the Key2roam® community
- Joining Key2roam® requires no change to operators' existing signalling
and clearing standards and practices
- Only one complete test scenario is carried out with Comfone's
test network. Thereafter, no further tests are required for setting
up and maintaining Key2roam® destinations
- Key2roam® partners can settle all roaming and messaging traffic
by a single standard monthly financial clearing process between
the operator and Comfone
