Second Latin American mobile operator joins Comfone Key2roam®

We welcome Cel Star of Guyana as a new member of Comfone's Key2roam® community and as the second operator from South America to become a partner. Operating under the brand name of 'U mobile', its services were launched in December 2004 in collaboration with the Government of Guyana after historically breaking the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company's (GT&T) monopoly on the cell service in Guyana.

U mobile provides coverage in Georgetown and in the areas of East Bank Essequibo, East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara and Berbice. Guyana is located in the north of South America, bordering the North Atlantic Ocean and between Suriname and Venezuela.

This latest development secures 39 mobile networks around the world as members of Comfone's roaming hub.
