China Unicom goes live as the 50th Comfone Key2roam Community Member

Comfone is pleased to announce China Unicom as the latest member to join the growing Key2roam community, adding roaming access to possibly the highest ranked Asian economy in terms of growth and importance.

China Unicom, the world's third largest mobile operator by number of subscribers, is one of the two mobile telecommunications operators in the People's Republic of China. At the end of 2006, the company had a total of 105 million subscribers for its GSM cellular business alone.

The newly gained destination will significantly extend the number of Key2roam’s existing roaming relations, which already numbers nearly 500 today. This is due to the fact that all existing Key2roam members can benefit from this unique chance to easily provide roaming access to China’s booming economy and to open up their own networks to the large subscriber base of China Unicom.
Additional attention is likely to be driven to the region in the coming year as Beijing will host the next Olympic Games in 2008.

By entering the Key2roam community, China Unicom acknowledges the service concept of Comfone Key2roam and the outstanding ability it offers to easily extend an operator’s roaming footprint with a single platform sign up.
