Basic access

A low-cost access solution providing connectivity, worldwide coverage, Quality of Service and security.

Coverage
Basic access is available anywhere in the world where there is access to an Internet Service Provider.

Access
Basic access gives connectivity to the root DNS information and provides access to the Comfone backbone and subsequently to all Comfone Data Services.

Basic access is established using a VPN peer (Cisco PIX) and the Internet. The VPN peer is configured by Comfone and shipped to the customer. The device is then connected to the boarder gateway (BG) of the customer and is used on the customer side to set-up the Internet connection to the Comfone backbone network. Once the VPN peer has been installed, Comfone supports the customer to complete installation.

Quality of Service (QoS)
The Comfone service is fully compliant with the appropriate GSMA rules. QoS parameters provided on the Comfone backbone are:
• Network site availability at PoP in Switzerland
• Backbone network transit delay (round trip delay worldwide)
• Network throughput (or packet loss)

Security
Comfone employs standard industry processes to ensure the security of data over Comfone basic access. The Cisco products used to access the Comfone backbone facilitate robust, enterprise-class security services, including stateful inspection firewall, standard-based IPsec Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and intrusion protection.
