The MMS Hub is a component of the Comfone backbone IP network. As a consequence it is governed by the security rules of the backbone. The MMS Hub machinery itself is fully protected within a secure installation, with a standard IP security architecture and firewalls.

Network Security
The Comfone backbone has been designed to meet the security requirements of mobile operators. The network on which the MMS Hub is implemented is 100 % separated from the public Internet. Additionally the public IP addresses used are not advertised outside the GSM community.

Payload Security
Theoretically, the payload can be encapsulated multiple times by the end-user, a mobile operator or a MMS Hub provider. Multiple encapsulations generate a significant overhead and thus larger volumes. The consequence of this is higher costs for no added security.
With the Comfone MMS Hub, the payload (user data) does not need to be encapsulated (e.g. with IPsec) on the Comfone backbone. This is because it is built on a private network with built-in security.
